Dear Stitchers,

Where has the summer gone?  Mine was consumed with knee replacement surgery and recovery.  Already I have brown leaves falling in the yard and I've seen Halloween decorations out in the stores,.  There have been several postings on my Facebook page already about the number of Fridays, or shopping days, or weeks until Christmas!  No doubt some of you have finished your holiday shopping.....and then there are the rest of us!  Since I have a second knee surgery coming up mid-September I should have finished mine of course, but that would require way too much thinking and planning at this point!  If you plan to complete some stitching for holiday gifts, read on for some inspiration.

The 6th Annual National "I Love Yarn! Day" is Saturday, October 15.  In celebration of all things fiber related, we are offering a 20% discount on our entire in-stock inventory on Friday, October 14 & Saturday, October 15.  This is a great opportunity to stock up on some of the beautiful new yarns and yarn kits we have in stock, purchase threads and fabric for holiday cross stitch ornaments, or choose a cute needlepoint ornament canvas or belt design for a cool Christmas gift.  In addition, we will have a special price on our sale corner yarns, and have available cross stitch fabric scrap bags and $2 grab bags.  Discontinued cross stitch, knit and crochet models will be for sale at bargain prices!  Don't miss it!

The annual  Just Cross Stitch Ornament Issue is on the way - always one of my favorite publications every year, chock full of lovely ornament designs plus a wealth of great recipes from the designers’ kitchens.  Also in stock is a delightful Halloween book from Just Cross Stitch with both small ornament size and larger pieces - so much fun!

We want to make our knitters and crocheters aware of a special yarn we have in the shop.  We timed the receipt of this yarn to coordinate with the I-75 Yarn Crawl held earlier in August.  It was so well received that we ordered a second dye lot which we've now gotten.  This exclusive colorway was designed to reflect the beauty of the horse farms here in central Kentucky.  It is a combination of greens and blues, accented with browns representing the horses and yellow for our state flower, the goldenrod.  Zen Yarn Garden dyed the yarn for us using one of their fingering weight silk and cashmere blends.  Don't miss out on this special offering!

We are now certified as a Ravelry Pro Shop, meaning that we can sell you patterns sold in the Ravelry Pattern Store from designers who have opted in for this service.  Any pattern that you would normally purchase direct from Ravelry can now be purchased through the shop.  We can print the pattern for you at the shop, and/or email it to you and it will be saved in your Ravelry library.  This benefits both your local yarn shop (us!) and the designer -- a win/win situation.  Your retail price is the same either way.  Please consider contacting us the next time you want to purchase a pattern from the Ravelry site.

Come and join us on Thursday nights between 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. for some fellowship and stitching time!  We have a group of knitters who have started meeting during that time over the last several months just to knit and laugh together.  You are welcome to bring your stitching project -- knit, crochet, needlepoint or cross stitch, and join us!  Bring a beverage if you want to, or a dinner snack if you're hungry, and relax with others who love stitching as much as you do.

Warm Up America Update -- Our Warm Up America group is moving along in 2016.  So far this year a total of 190 afghans in various sizes, 49 baby/child afghans, 8 preemie blankets, 56 scarves and 61 hats have been completed.  If you have yarn to donate, are willing to knit or crochet blocks, or want to become a part of our volunteer group, please join us!  We meet on Tuesdays, from 10 AM until approximately 2 PM to organize the Warm Up America efforts. If you have questions about the program or know of a group who serves people in need of warm afghans, please let me know.  We are always open to adding organizations to our list.

Our finishing deadline for cross stitch and needlepoint ornaments, stockings, pillows, bell pulls, etc. is Saturday, November 19.  This is the last day that we will accept items for finishing by Christmas.  Please remember that you need to bring all backing fabrics and specialty threads (if needed) for cording.  Our belt finishing deadline is Saturday, December 3.  All belts and key chains that need to be back in time for Christmas must be brought in by this date -- if we are to do the finishing/binding stitch for you, we will need it no later than November 26.
